Salut! It seems like not much has been going on, and yet i find myself with no time... how does that happen? oh well! these are just a couple of pictures from a while ago, since i didnt want to have nooo posts at all lately! tomorrow in my apparel and design class, we are having a fashion show of the prom dresses we made out of 'trash'. should be pretty interesting, and the photography class is taking pictures, so hopefully you guys can see whats what!

Ah, another day of spring break! Saw Alice in Wonderland today... to be really honest, i thought it was not as fabulous as everyone was making it out to be. perhaps im just not cut out for the adventures of wonderland..

spring into action

hey hey heyy! fabulous news... im back! all it took was a little breather from blogging, a whole lot of horsing, and some encouragement from my stylish friends. and voila! im back and better than ever.
first things first, id like to thank all of my followers for still following me, even when i wasnt posting anything new. i really appreciate it, and remember that i love love love comments!
the second thing is that im going to encorporate some of my horseback riding into my blog. its a huge part of my life, and there is definately a lot of fashion involved too! let me know if that would bore you guys to death, or if it interests you.
and lastly.. although i will be certainly posting a lot more frequently now, it doesnt mean that it will be everyday. i wil try to update as often as i can! here is a little sneak peak of my Lust List: Spring 2010 edition..

I must say, being back to my blog feels like slipping into an old pair of jeans, or my perfectly worn in riding boots. its wonderful and feels right! i missed it, and im super happy to be back!

Im here! I really have no excuse other than being sick, having two weeks of finals stress, and two horse shows in a row! Which, i suppose, could be valuable excuses...
The point is, i have not had much time lately to post things, though i have had many outfits and parties and such to talk about. Horses have taken over a bigger part of my life, and im thinking that i like it that way. Well, i know i like it that way. I love horseback riding, and showing, and everything that goes with it. The problem is little-to-no blogging time, which makes me equally guilt-ridden and sad. For a while, blogging was the main focus of my energy and time, and i

was very much content and happy with that. But now..things are changing, and for the best i think. It doesnt mean i wont be blogging at all, but i felt like i had to tell the few of you who care that my blog will be put on the back burner for now.

I love and appreciate all you followers and your inspiring and comments that always make me smile! I'll still be involved in the blogging world, though not as actively as before.

Well, Happy Holidays! Its not even December yet, and already the radio is playing Christmas carols, the stores are filled with wrapping paper and ornaments, and wish lists are sent to relatives. My Christmas list happens to already be done! A CHI flatiron, new phone, juicy couture charms, new breeches, grooming supplies, and sweatshirts for riding pretty much make up the basis of my must-haves.

Now that it is offically party season of the year, i have at least one get-together to attend every weekend, if not more. Many of my friends will be invited to the same parties, and will be seeing me more than once this holiday season. This means, as all fashionistas know...no duplicated outfits! This does not mean you cant encorporate something from last year into an outfit this winter. Here are my main must-haves for parties:

blazers. boyfriend, form-fitting, black, navy, whatever you like! its a great staple to have that will add a classic look to any outfit.
glitter! any kind of sparkles or sequins this winter is very in and very chic. Make sure that it is not tacky or too over-the-top. Keep it to one glitter piece per outfit. I just picked up tiered sequin skirt, as well as a silver sequined blazer! Both will add glitz and glam to my wardrobe
booties. Prefereably black, with some sort of detailing, although grey or even a nice jewel tone livens up drab winter garb! which brings me to my next item:
tights! lace and bright colors. wear them instead of black tights or leggings and your outfit will instantly got from a 5 to a 10. hot pink, deep blues, reds, and lace tights are all very good choices for this season.

And there you have it. My humble party-going list of fashion must-haves for this holiday season!

Went to a funeral today :( One of my best friends, Jay, her grandfather passed away this past weekend. Dreary a thing to be doing, we all (my other best friends, Hannah and Lauren) got to miss school today to be there for Jay, and were a bit cheerful about that. I also got to Urban Outfitters today and possibly had the biggest score ever! $70 dollar shoes that i have been wanting were on sale for $20 and miraculously in my size!

All in all, a good day, considering the circumstances!

I know, i know. Corny title! I just could help myself. Pictures at the barn after lessons on Saturday; me, oliver, my friend heather and zeus. It was heather's birthday, so afterwards we went out to brunch at the cutest little cafe i have ever seen. i was seriously giggling with happiness! more pictures of the quaint coffee shop to come. Then that night we met up at the $20,000 Season Finale Grand Prix at WestWorld in Scottsdale, a very impressive horse show. It was so much fun and absolutely amazing, especially since we had just come from our seemingly amateur lessons earlier that morning. The jumps were about 5 feet high and the horses were gorgeous. If i didn't already want a horse more than anything...well, now i want one more(: Hope your weekend was as satisfying as mine!

Is she not incredibly gorgeous? I cant imagine a prettier, classier, or sweeter child-star turned wildly successful actress/glamour girl than Dakota Fanning. Chances are, you've seen her in one of her earlier movies, like Uptown Girls, or more recent films, The Secret Life of Bees or Push. But now, were hearing about the big stir she's causing by breaking out of her shell a little and turning to the dark side-vampires. She is Jane of New Moon, and you will also see her returning in Eclipse. Although im not sure how the movie will turn out, im interested in seeing Dakota playing a red-eyed, evil vampire. How do you feel about the Twilight Saga?

h&m scottsdale opening weekend

H&M opened a store in Scottsdale on Thursday! i was soo excited. the wait for the much-anticipated european-based store was long, but worth it. as soon as i could fit it in, i zipped on over to the Scottsdale Quarter and got my first look at an H&M store! to sum it up in a couple words, it was complete and total, insane mayhem! so consequently, i didnt get a very good look at the clothes, although they had quite a few adorable knit hats that were just calling my name..

where to go when you have absolutely nothing to wear, no necklace to go with that dress, and the perfect leather jacket...but no killer heels? Why, the internet of course! When my Outfit & Inspiration tank is running on low, i tend to gravitate towards websites like forever 21, urban outfitters, lulu's, and teenVogue, and i scour them for inspiration of any kind. this can be a quick fix for someone who just needs that one little spark...but it can just as easily turn into a three-hour adventure that involves several open internet windows, coffee breaks, and running to the car for your wallet. These escapades can also be very helpful if you are having a hard time memorizing your credit card number...not that im talking from experience, or anything...

This was actually downtown Pittsburgh...i think its a little crazy. I mean, i think of 'downtown' as modern skyscrapers. Apparently im wrong..

Me with the flowers...these pictures werent, ahem, supposed to be taken. i guess my crazy mother did not see the 'no photography' sign. ah, well. they look cool! The museum was everything you would expect it to be-full of pop art, cool graphics, and classic photos that you've seen a million times but just now recognized.

Looks like a fake back-drop, doesnt it? But its totally real, i promise you. We were just there when there were no cars.

Pics from a few weeks ago, right before i left for Pittsburgh. I just sorta meandered out into the front yard, not really expecting anything great to come of it. But im actaully really, really happy with the way this batch turned out :) The contrast of the bright plaid and sand...the chic-ness of the outfit and the sorta dirtiness of the rocks and sand.. im not sure what it is, but i ike it a lot. And as you can see, i made it my header...so i hope you guys like it as much as i do!

im back from Pittsburgh and absolutely swamped with pictures to download, things to post, homework to do, gossip to catch up on...you can imagine! you cant just up and leave for a week and then return to normalcy..
anyhoo, these are the first of my pictures- lunch at Benihana last week- i love these places! the chefs cooking right in front of you always entertains me...

then we proceded to Sarris's Candy Factory. it was the craziest place ever! tons of candy, tons of stuffed animals (for no apparent reason)... lots of oggling people.

Fall, and all its wonderful and familiar smells, colors, traditions, and most of all, outfits, has absolutely captured me. I am in so deep its hard to pull myself back to the unfavorable reality of tests, homework, and 6:15 a.m wake-up calls. My mother got a grip on our whole house in her halloween-inspired whirl-wind, and this is how it turned out...

I so wanted to do one big, huge fall post, but as you can imagine, i got a little carried away and decided that it would be wayy too much for just one post. This is the first part of Read My Lips; Fall Fashion Edition...my shoe line up!!

These fiesty pumps are my latest purchase. They were intended to go with my black-accented-with-jewels homecoming dress, but it didn't quite work out. Instead of returning them to Charlotte Russe and to the possible (and probable) life of sitting on a shelf not being appreciated to their full value, or even worse, being worn in.....less than favorable circumstances, im keeping them. And you need not worry about their not being appreciated, because believe me, everytime i walk by my 'fall shoe line' up in my room, they are fully loved!

So there you have it, the first part of the highly anticipated (by me at least) Fall Fashion Edition of Read My Lips! The second (and possibly third) edition will be coming soon. My bestie Julianne and moi got together one recent afternoon to watch the Tivo-ed premiere of Desperate Housewives, make cookies for french club, and of course, blog! Julianne is also ah-dicted to the blogging world-her baby, The Secret Life of Me is on My Blog List, check it out! She is the queen of blog pimping, i swear!

I was quite happy with my outfit-new skirt that i wore in the fashion show and fall boots, and it had a sort of equestrain feel to it...it totally made my day. It was mostly inspired by my riding over the weekend- i had a hunt cup schooling show, so i was feeling (and still am) very much influenced by the equestrian style. I am starting a riding blog...its should be up and running soon..i am really excited since horses are such a big part of my life! :) Ciao, bella!

fall is in the air...

Fall!! Its here and im sooo excited! I know for most everybody, they dread the end of summer and the beginning of the colder months. For me, however, its the best time of the year-no more 110 degree days. A BIG fall post is coming soon but here is a little preview....nail polish hits for this fall.

Although i have not tried it yet, i have a feeling that Mink Muffs is going to be one of my favorite fall colors! I always find nude appealing-in fact, i hardly ever stray from a pale pink on my fingers (Essie's Pinkadelic and Baby's Breath are my favorites!). So this will be a refreshing way to stay the same but be different :)

On the complete opposite end of the color spectrum, there are all these crazy bright-yet-fall colors out there this season, like Pink Parka. TeenVogue does this a lot-if any of you remember Emma Watson's shoot, the 'theme' was girly with grunge, and she had bright magenta nails. Sometimes fall colors can get a little boring, so this will be a good color to have when your bored with deep purples or darks.

the NCL Fashion Show was today at Tempe Marketplace!! It was a lot of fun-nerve-racking, but fun. I was the m-c, and although i was pretty freaked out at first, it turned out to be a great experience and im glad i did it! I also got some lovely flowers after the show :) i also bought the teal skirt from my outfit, a striped dress, a studded headband, and my homecoming dress! good day..

Today started off as a good day-early release from school. Then it got a little better-a trip to the tack shop for some equestrian needs... and then, out of the blue, my day was made.

I've been following Anni's blog, Style Hurricane, for some time now. She lives in Estonia and has the most amazingly chic, unique and insipring outfits of anyone iv seen. She makes jewelry and sells it to a boutique in Estonia. I was overjoyed to see a very lengthy post of her zipper jewelry with the life-altering words "My collection is available on Etsy.com". Upon reading this news, i raced on over to her online shop on Etsy and purchased a beautiful zipper cuff bracelet.

So, it has been a week or two of pure suspense! I could not wait to see if it was all i dreamed and more. And today, chickies, (at last!) i opened the mailbox to see a petite package staring back at me. I could barely make it back into the house before tearing open the envelope and meeting my amazing new bracelet. And amazing, it is! I cannot believe that a fashion-concsious girl far, far away in Estonia made this incredible piece of art, and then sent it to me in Arizona!

much ado about nothing

goodness knows it been a frightfully long time since iv posted anything! i have been quite caught up in my ridiculously-ordinary yet overly-stressful life. math tests, french club, chem-phys homework, National Charity League fashion board meetings (were having another fashion show and im the announcer!), horseback riding...it all seems strikingly normal, but all my free time is taken up from now to when barney's gives away the hottest 'it' bag for free (a.k.a never gonna happen)!

enough with my life-lets submerge ourselves into the fashion world, shall we?

this is my 'mod alice' look, because the poufy skirt and jeweled headband give the outfit a certain whimsical feel, but the denim and black bring it back to earth. i do so love the headband trend, but i always end up with a headache :( oh, what we do for fashion..

a trend that seems to just keep popping up this fall is the 'girly pieces/hard-core accents', and im really loving it. i think that if i had to describe my style, at this point and time, this would be it. i love to be feminine and a girly-girl, but i can also be pretty tough and rock n' roll. mixing these two together turns into a harmonious blend of perfection, like peanut butter and jelly, black and white, New York and fashion week...

i can resist everything but temptation

quite recently, (as in this past weekend), i had the tremendous pleasure of finding myself alone with my mom for almost 3 whole days. now, this may not seem very calendar-worthy, however it is rather historic for me because my brother is always around.

now what were we to do with those 2 and a half days? well, shopping of course!

saks, banana republic, ann taylor, victoria's secret, anthropologie, juicy couture, pacsun, sephora, j. crew, pottery barn, nordstrom, Love 21, charlotte russe, and my personal favorite, Forever 21, were all visited by my mother and i. sadly, i have no pictures to record these events, because i was having too much fun to worry about lighting and poses.

we also watched a few chick flicks - Valentino:The Last Emperor, Pride & Prejudice, and Coco Chanel, all of which i have fallen in love with and simultaneously make me wish that 1) i lived in Paris and spoke with a french accent and at crepes everyday 2) i lived worked with Valentino before he retired 3) i am an Elizabeth Bennett who finds her Mr. Darcy after much turmoil, British accents, tea, balls, and kissing in the rain.

i feel like my life would be complete if i owned these boots. they are definately not my style, but i could just picture them with a flirty, floral dress. or grunged up with ripped jeans and a cropped tee. either way, they are pretty fierce!
these babies are equally good. they are still pretty racy, but just not as much. they are fierce in a toned down kinda way. studded heels/booties are very in this fall...im just sayin'.....

for those of you who dont already know......cropped tee's are in!!! i am super excited about this because they are so verstile and look good with just about anything. i got one when i was at Urban Outfitters a week or so ago, it was fitted and just plain cream, but i cant wait to branch out a little next time one catches my eye... They go great with short, fitted skirts, or a pair of cut-offs. For those of you wary of showing a little skin, throw one on over a tight body-con dress.

went to the scottsdale museum of contemporary arts.....same but different as the mesa museum of contemporary arts. :) once again, there was some cool architecture, but not as much as mesa's. we were disappoinetd when we realized that the gallery we wanted to see-Weigman's weimereiners-wasnt there until Saturday :( it turned out ok, but we were heckled by the tour-guide-grandma so we made a break for it.

today i visited the contemporary arts museum. it was very cool, with a lot of amazing architecture (like the stairs and windows, and the contrast between the cactus and the blue panels) and galleries full of art. the one i found most..... interesting was art made out of trash. some of them looked straight out of a looney bin, while others were sleek and modern. it was all very eye opening...... :D

i was very glad i brought my camera because it was a perfect backdrop for the pictures. hope you are enjoying your summer-mine is flying by!

shoes! Yep, i actually had a dream about shoes, which, if you think about it, isn't really that crazy. I just waltzed right in to Charlotte Rusee (im not 100% sure if that was really the store, but i just have one of those feelings you get with dreams) and a very helpful store employee held on for dear life as i threw shoes at him (i didnt really throw them, i just handed them to him. so dont worry! the nice shoe man was not hurt!) to try on. Unfortunately, that is where my dream ended- with a nice pair of brown cage heels in hand, many shoe boxes on the counter, and my dad's credit card. Suffice to say it was a good dream. Alas, it was only a dream.

Still, i couldnt help but look on Char Russe's website to see if the 'shoes of my dream' were there-they were not. :( But i did find some really cute wedges that would be perfect for just about anything:

I for one am not a huge fan of the store, i think it is all rather generic, but at the same time, if possible, a bit trashy. But i cannot help but feel like there is hope yet, because any store that is harboring beauties like this must be doing something right! They are definately sexy, no doubt about that, but they are also a bit sweet and very femine, so much so that you could probably get away with wearing them to church, if you pair them with a sweet, floral dress. In honor of Earth Day, I am making some changes in my daily life. I already turn out all the lights, use CFL lightbulbs, unplug things that aren't being used, and belong to CarbonRally, where i have completed many challenges. I recycle everything and anything i see, and i dont let the water run when i am brushing my teeth. But i can't helpbut feel that i have only scratched the surface of what i can do and the impact it will have. Yes, i know, everything little thing helps. But i want to do something more. So i have made a promise to myself (and the Earth) that i will do whatever i can to make a big change. The first thing on my list: pledge to protecting the Earth at www.nick.com/biggreenhelp. An article in the May issue of TeenVOGUE brought to my attention how important it is for your skin care and make-up routine to be "green". Everything you put on your skin is absorbed into your bloodstream. I for one don't want icky chemicals like parabens and formaldehyde in me. But i can't just go and buy completely new make-up and skin care products. Which presents me with a problem, Not only are the one's i have now just fine and hardly used up, i don't have the money. Well, i decided to solve this dilemma, and thankfully, the solution is an easy one. When the make-up and other toiletries i have now runs out, i will replace it with a greener, safer version. The Body Shop is an excellent place to find natural products that are not tested on animals. Please consider switching your make up and skin care products to environmentally conscious ones. Both you and the earth will benefit.

Here are some things that i am going to add to my regime:

Tea Tree Oil Blemish Fade Night Lotion, $19 at the Body Shop. Tea tree oil controls oil and prevents blemishes without over drying skin.

Camomile Gentle Eye Make-up Remover, now only $7 at the Body Shop. Dissolves eye make-up without irritating skin. As an added bonus, it conditions lashes!

Tea Tree Oil Facial Wash, $11.50 at the Body Shop. Combats blemishes and prevents new ones without drying out the skin.

Most of you know Susan from Desparate Housewives as the skinny, fashionable, somewhat, for lack of another term, desparate, brunette housewife who, technically, isn't even a wife. She always was and still is my favorite. She manages to get herself into some unsightly situations and ridiculously unreal titches, all the while looking fabulous. Most recently her boss at the private school kissed her! Yes, that's right, kissed her! She thought Susan was a lesbian too because, surprise, surprise, Susan gave her some signals that she thought meant she was into her. Well, well. Susan, ah, Susan. On this blustery morn i was inspired, and my outfit took a seemingly Susan-esque turn for the better.

My Dermalogica Clean Start Kit arrived today-almost a week late! I was beginning to think something had gone wrong, but i decided to give it a couple of more days before i emailed them. Finally, i couldn't take it any more! i emailed them yesterday, but haven't gotten a response. But then, joy of all joys, it came today. So it doesnt really matter anymore. Anyway, i tried it out and it is wonderful! The face wash is clear, and sort of foams and then disappears. Then there is a face mist that is a toner-the mist is so fine and luxurious-by that time i was really mellowed out. And lastly, the p.m. lotion was a clear gel that went on and felt like a face primer. Did i mention that all of the products have this delicious, fruity scent? All in all, i am deliriously happy with the way things turned out-in fact, i can't wait to wash my face again in the morning!

These are rosettes, a norwegian holday tradition-you dip the hot iron into the batter and then fry it (in lard-eww!). They are very delicious, especially when you dip then in sugar.

This is only a few of the rosettes we made. The burned ones are Debbie's-even though she the real Norwegian, I was better at it than she was! :) I gotta give props to Grandma Marge (Deb's mom). Without her, we would never have figured it out. She is the Queen of Rosette making.

I just discovered Fergie's song Labels or Love and I am obsessed!! National Charity League is having a fashion show this weekend (I'm in it) and this song is on the playlist for the show. At first, I just loved the beat-i didn't even know how sang it. Then i looked up the lyrics and thought they were just so cool. Ok-I am officially in love with these remarkable shoes. Unfortunately, they are from CutseyGirl.com, which means they are probably rather knock-offish and fake looking, but hey, a girl can dream, can't she? I think that to get rid of this shoe fetish, i may just have to buy them and if they turn out to be bad, at least it will set my mind at ease. And at only $10.99 (yes, you read that right), why not?

Look, but DO NOT buy!!) but it seems my limits are being tempted. Picture them with a sundress, or a skirt, or shorts . . . really, the possiblities are endless. I cannot wait for the day they arrive on my doorstep (now all iIhave to do is convince my mom that 4.5 inch heels are perfectly fine!)

Aren't these shoes so fierce?! A little dated (ha, as in, soooo last winter/fall) but i still love them. The boots come in another version-with buckles and some skin-showing slits. They would be adorable in a Vanessa Hudgens outfit-tights and a girly dress with a rockin' leather jacket. So delish!

Holiday Blues

Right about now all the Christmas decor and songs are getting really, really old. At last, out tree came down today, but thankfully all the other decorations left the building last week. Also, if you've had visitors, you are probably dying for them to leave, or rejoicing that they've left. Don' t get me wrong, I love having family over Christmas. But two weeks? It gets a little long, and everyone in that situation needs a break.

On the flip side, you may feel a little sad, and the house may feel big and empty after said guests leave and there is nothing to look foreward to except the usual hectic school weeks. Don't submit yourself to post-christmas depression! Get yourself moving-for one thing it will help you shed some of the many cookies you ate over the break, and it will also give you energy. Help remove the decorations and presents from the house. Return gifts that need returned, put gifts in the gift closet for future re-gifting opertunities. Hang out with friends and spend some of that Xmas cash you scored. Clean your room and your backpack (trust me, when you do this early in the week before you return to school, it wil leave you feeling prepared, especially if you had homework or other assignments). Do all the things you meant to do but never had time. Towards the end of the week , take a breather. Give yourself a spa day (or at least a spa hour!).

The holidays don't have to be a month of mayhem and mixed emotions.

I don't know about you, but everyone at my school needs a wake-up call. Hello, it's fall! I have seen girls wearing white short shorts. Gasp! It has officially been fall for 43 days now, and I am totally ready to trade my sandals and shorts for boots and jeans. Here is a list of fall must-have's that will send you from the pool to the cool.

*Put your best foot foreward in this season's coolest picks-riding boots. Get yourself a pair or two-classic tan, grey, and black work the best with jeans. You should also have a pair of crocheted boots-don't spend too much money on these because come spring, you wont want to wear them for very long.
*Jeans-skinny, boot cut, whatever it is that flatters you best, that is what is in style. Please, please, please no baggy, laundry-day jeans! There is nothing worse than huge pants that don't fit you! I should add that no one likes to see the same 5 pairs of skinny jeans rotated week after week. If your closet is full of skinnys, add some flair with a different cut.
*Dress to impress-pick up a few sweater dresses during your next trip to the mall, and don't forget the tights! Go for plum, navy, or yellow, depending on the dress color.

Don't Forget! With all these new clothes coming in, and some saves from last year, you'll want to rotate your summer wardrobe to another location-the other side of you'r clset, the guest bedroom, somewhere out of the way. if you haven't worn something in over a year-get rid of it!
